We came over from England to see the museum and weren't dissapointed. I have watched the Waltons from the age of 17 and am still watching them at the age of 63, I love the series, I have the whole 9 series on DVD and all the movies. I love the family and Jim-bob is one of my favourite people. It was great to sit and have a cup of tea at Earls dinner table and to sit at the desk where he did all his writing when he was growing up. The house is beautiful and the lovely lady who guides you around is so helpful. The two ladies at the museum are great and very helpful too. It was a long way to come but worth the trip and the journey up the mountain to the museum was lovely. It's the 25th anniversary of the museum at the end of this month (October 2017) and Richard Thomas is going to be there, I just wish I could have gone this month instead of last month but it just wasn't possible. I am so happy to have seen the house and museum and hope to return when they buy the set used for the house and put it near the museum. We owe a big thank you to our friends who took us from Williamsburg to the the museum.
Awesome experience. Have been several times before, but keep learning more every time. Took the sister in law and brother in law that were visiting from out of town. She LOVED it.
Please please please !! If you are a Walton fan you must go ! Yes it out of the way ! Not a fancy place but just what you think of as you watch the show! Plan a day ! Take a picnic lunch / dinner , no restaurant near ! No fancy motels ! Or fast food ! But a step
Amazing place to visit. Not the house or anything from the TV show this is the place where Earl Hamner grew up and where his books are wrote about which the show is based off of. We loved this place because we wanted to see where everything was written about and the actual place the show was about. This is well worth the time. We spent a day and plan to go back and spend more time traveling around seeing the surrounding towns they talked about going to in the books.
Awesome!! It's all I can say! I love the Waltons! Everyone needs to go here and see this! I am going back!!
Friendly folks.
Back In time .... The ladies are SO helpful ! You can take all the time you want ! Hours !! We when in fall , November it was beautiful! Leaves , weather prefect,
